From The Daily Reporter
Posted November 13, 2008

Edward Wenzler, president of William Wenzler and Associates-Architects Inc., died Saturday.

His son, Christopher Edward Wenzler, will take over as president of the Milwaukee-based firm after working side-by-side with his father since 2006. Christopher Wenzler said his father never let a bad day get him down and was the strongest man he knew.

“It didn’t matter if he had the most horrible day yesterday,” he said, “he’d come in with a smile and a cup of coffee.”

Edward Wenzler, 54, died after suffering a heart attack. A coroner discovered three blocked arteries in his heart. “He loved us all very much, and we
loved him the same,” Christopher Wenzler said. “None of us have any regrets.”

Both Christopher Wenzler and Dave G. Voss Jr., president of Neenah-based Miron Construction Co. Inc. and Edward Wenzler’s friend, said he was the picture of health, and they were surprised by his death.

But Edward Wenzler was a man of faith, and Voss said perhaps he was needed elsewhere. “There must’ve been a big construction problem up in Heaven,” Voss said.

Christopher Wenzler said his father’s approach as a boss was to be a humble servant to employees and clients. If somebody approached him with complaints, he would listen quietly, go home and pray about it. Usually, he would come in the next day, say he had failed the client or co-worker and begin looking for solutions, Christopher Wenzler said.

Voss said the best lesson Wisconsin’s construction industry can learn from Edward Wenzler was through his approach to working with contractors. Voss, who hired Wenzler’s firm to design Voss’ home and Miron’s headquarters, said Edward Wenzler would call on colleagues to ask their opinions about best construction methods or materials to use in his designs.

“He was very, very emphatic that all of his architects call contractors to ask for their opinions,” Voss said. “There was never in Ed’s mind that, ‘I am any better or know any more than a contractor.’”

Edward Wenzler is survived by his wife, Georgine; sons, Christopher and Michael; father and mother William and Dolores; sisters, Deborah Wenzler Farris and Joan Wenzler Slocum; and brother, John Wenzler.

Please leave your condolences below.

The outstanding quality of Jersey and reliable can be a person of the most effective among the suits to ensure that the sale price could very well be one of the most expensive. Methods and reliable measure with jerseys jerseys of the same players used in the NFL. The material is thicker and more difficult to set up a lot of comfort. And all art is sewn on the jerseys. Some fans want to buy authentic jerseys Saints. You can select the brand and the total amount of Avid NFL players like him. Georgine and Family:
I'm the oldest daughter of Cordell and Carol Hull, good friends of your parents. I came across this obituary on the internet and wanted to offer my condolences. While we don't always understand the ways of the Lord, we do know His ultimate plan is perfect. My mom, Carol, went home to be with the Lord in October 2000, and I miss her dearly...but she was very ill, and I'm comforted that she in in the arms of Jesus and in pain no longer. May you continue to feel that same comfort in Christ, knowing he has your loved one in His arms!

Hello Wenzler Family,

I recently heard about Edward "going home to be with the Lord". Initially I was shocked and surprised, but when I realized he would be with Jesus for all eternity, I was really excited for him.

I did not know Edward that much. I met him once or twice while going after various projects. When I met Edward, there was something about him that was unique but I wasn't sure what it was. When I read his article that was posted in the Wisconsin Builder, I realized what this uniqueness was - Jesus.

I believe the Lord has used Edward's life to touch various people in different ways (like mine), and now that he has gone home to be with the Lord, I believe his life will be a greater witness of the Lord.

I pray the fond memories of Edward will continue to bless your hearts and that the Lord will continue to fill you all with His presence and He prepares you to one day see Edward.

Dear Wenzler Family, I am deeply sorry to hear of your loss. Though it has been many years, the influence that you had on me during my high school and college days remains profound. I have memories of Ed and Georgine that probably date back to 1977. The last photo I have of Bill, Delores, myself and my daughter, Kira, (in a Snuggli) is from 1978. Ed's smile and laughter remain etched in my mind--and surely that is part of his spirit that continues to touch us all. Mr. and Mrs. Wenzler, John, Debi, Joan, Georgine and your children--I am extending my prayers to you from Sandpoint, Idaho. Bless you during this year of "firsts" without Ed at your sides. Love, Linda Lindstrom Navarre

Dear Ed,

I miss you so much. The last memory I have of you was at the end of the workday before the night you were taken from us. We were saying our goodbyes as I was going on vacation the next day.I could feel the stubble of your beard as you gave me a strong hug and kissed me on the cheek and told me that you loved me.

I feel so bad for Georgine and Chris and Mike and your mom and dad. I know that in these last days they have looked into that deep dark hole that you told me you once faced. That hole did not swallow you up and I don't think it will swallow them up either. My commitment to you Ed, is that in your absence, I will support your family in any way that I can.

I love you,
Cliff

To Georgine , Chris/Lisa and Mike,
While some neighborhoods have the sound of birds singing mixed with urban commotion.....The neighborhood my family lived in during the 80's and early 90's (especially in the Summer with open windows)had the sweet sound of Georgine playing her music , singing her music scales, a very young Chris and Mike burning in the yard perimeter track with their motorbikes and Ed leaving for work a little before 7am(I should say for coffee and then worksmilies/smiley.gifwith that unmistakable porsche muffler. All sounds of Wenzler family Love. I can hear it in my head as if it was today.

As I mentioned at Ed's celebration of Life last Saturday....probably said best by my now 28 year old daughter Katie ,remembering when she was 6 years old and only knew Ed with the omnipresent smile...and seriously wondered and then pictured him even sleeping with a smile on his face. As they say, from the mouths of babes !

I'll never forget the courage Ed showed me when one afternoon we both played hooky from work and went up to Devil's Head to ski...I think Mike joined us with some other friends. That was the day Ed got the rental snowboard and tried snowboarding for the first time ...I of course hid behind the "I want to save some experiences for another lifetime" while Ed experienced yet another day of adventure coming home sore and bruised from the many falls....But that was Ed always inviting the speed, the fun , the adventure.

Over the years we had many breakfast stops at the old 3rd street ham and egger, the starbucks on Bluemound and towards the end we found our place at the Original Pancake House on Bluemound....where we not only nurtured our physical bodies ...but always especially nurtured the soul. I will miss that more than anything.

Georgine , Chris, Mike & Lisa....I loved your Ed. In the short time he has been taken from us on this earth....I already find myself saying W W E D !

May God Bless your beautiful family,
with Love,

To the Wenzler Family:
Although I only knew Ed for a very short time, I feel blessed to have been introduced to him and through Ed's good friend JY, I was able to witness Ed's
vibrant character in action. The more I hear and read about Ed Wenzler's life, the more I appreciate the opportunity to have met him and enjoy his love for life, something I will never forget.

Dear Wenzlers,

Ed's passing has cast a shadow over our lives since we heard more than a week ago. Ed was one of the most genuine people we know. It was always a special pleasure to encounter him, whether for dinner with Ed and Georgine or sailing on Bill's boat or just bumping into him at church. Ed's indomitable cheerfulness always boosted our spirits.

The changing nature of life meant we weren't able to spend much time with Ed and Georgine during the past few years. That's our only regret about having known Ed.

We knew Ed's life was full and that he lived it with remarkable zest. But being in an overflowing auditorium and hearing about him from his friends and colleagues last Saturday helped us truly understand that Ed packed more than a full lifetime into his 54 years. He touched more people than most people we know of any age. And in his friends, family and children he left a legacy that few can equal.

Joy and I wish we knew better how to offer comfort in this difficult time. If there's anything we can do at all for any of the family, please don't hesitate to call on us.

I think it's dangerous to describe worship like it's some sort of entertainment event. I used to fall into that; measuring the impact of the music, the strength of the words spoken in the sermon, the energy of the congregation. Therefore, I hesitate slightly when I tell you that I attended the most amazing funeral this weekend.

It was 2 1/2 hours that could have gone 2 1/2 days as far as I was concerned. Tears, laughter, joy---and crushing grief. Ed's best friend, James T. Harris alternated between joy and sorrow as he guided us all along a path of celebration and remembrance. I absorbed a message delivered by our pastor that is first-ballot hall of fame. Ed's two sons spoke truth and love in the midst of tragedy. A parade of friends offered remembrances, each one as good as the next.

How do we get one of those?

I think I know. Ed loved and got loved back. While he is in the midst of a chorus of 'Well done good and faithful servant'---his family is grappling with their life after which will never be the same. They're at the epicenter of depths of grief, something we all go through when someone passes---but I know that they're buoyed by the knowledge that he is in the ultimate destination.

The real grief is in households where someone wakes up today after a different kind of funeral this weekend. The kind where the digging out of the junk of the deceased discovers deeper and deeper pockets of junk and filth and brokenness. No doubt, there was a scramble to even find a place to hold a funeral---certainly not at a church where the deceased was even known. No, these funerals are awkward, strange, uncomfortable, and people can't wait to get out of there and back to their lives of quiet desperation. Please, don't confront us with the inevitable.

Ed's funeral made us face that inevitable day---and for the joyous in the crowd, we can agree that we can hardly wait. Gonna take a little work---gonna take a little planning---but step number one is pretty easy.

Love.

Dear Georgine,

It had been my plan to meet you and Ed, and watch the Packers vs Vikings game together with Linda. That was our plan, but the Lord had another one for us. Although you and I will meet soon, Ed and I will wait until the day that Jesus returns again.

Georgine, trust in the Lord to care for you heart during this time. By resting on Him, you will get through this time that may at times seem hopeless. Within the arms of God there is Love, Joy and Peace. I have been praying that you will experience these fruits of the Spirit.

Linda has told me much about the kind of marriage relationship that you and Ed had together. That of being best friends, constant companions, and the greatest love of each other's lives. My hope is that Linda and I will have that same relationship in our marriage too.

I look forward to singing in the Eastbrook Church choir under your direction next fall, and also the honor of singing with Linda on a Praise and Worship team together.

In Him,

Dearest Georgine & Family,

I have heard many things about Ed's great servant heart, but the comment that I heard most often was that he was a soldier of God. While your hearts are broken for the loss of this beautiful man, deep in them is the blessed assurance that Ed is beholding the face of his commanding officer. I pray for you that you will be filled with joy knowing that the victory has been won.

When I was only 17 years old I had the great honor of meeting Ed and his family at Wenzler Architects. They took me in as an intern and fostered my growth as a man and an architect. I have very fond memories of working there for 12 years. Remembering all the office birthdays we celebrated and the conversations we shared over many lunches in the office brings me great joy.

I enjoyed Ed’s company outside the office as well. He invited me into his home and shared his loving family with me. His love for his family was evident when we spent time together. Ed and I would have so much fun taking out the boat after work to ride the Lake Michigan waves on a windy night. We would laugh and scream as we were both terrified and delighted at the simple pleasures that the lake could give us. His youthful enthusiasm complemented our age difference and I thought of Ed as my brother.

Ed was always encouraging and supportive at times of decision in my life. When I left the firm to pursue my master’s degree he was saddened but gave me all the encouragement to follow my passions. We kept in contact and I knew Ed and his family would always be there for me and I would always be there for them.

After spending 1/3 of my life with Ed and his family I will truly miss him. My thoughts go out to his other friends and especially his family during this difficult time. I can only hope to live up to the values and lessons Ed and his family have shared with me on my journey in life.

Ed was not someone I knew terribly well outside of Sunday's at the Harris but what I learned of him at the memorial service Saturday solidified what I had heard of him. I never thought I would find myself taking notes at a service such as this, but I did...in between the tears. Fortunately I brought my two older kids who were also riveted to the testimonies.

I learned that...

...trust in your earthly father is only a precursor to trusting our heavenly father.
...although a father is there to support he can neaver substitute for the heavenly father.
...our source of hope needs to be in Him.
...love others and when you have done that...love them more.
...God brings the right people into your life when you need them most
...it is possible to be happy, enjoy life, be a witness of God and hug everyone in sight, just DO IT!
...most of all, be an example of the fruit of the Holy Spirit to your kids, this is MY fervent prayer.

Mike and Chris, thanks for showing us all the results of a loving father. Ed was no doubt close to you and was Jesus to everyone he met. I will forever remember this about Ed lived out in your testimonies. Ed lived to show others how to be real....now it is my tuen to live out the "dash"...Thanks Ed! My friend Ed.
Hanging around the dock, drinking coffee, talking boats, fixing the next thing to break on the boat, laughing, hugging, sun tanning, anchoring, and swimming, adventures. These were some of our favorite things! The last day I spent with Ed was the warm weekend before we pulled the boats out. It was beautiful. We were on the dock talking about all kinds of stuff. We looked at the clouds and it was a "mackeral sky" a certain pattern. I got the chapmans book and we both looked up the cloud formation. There was a poem that went with it that Ed said he really liked. "Mackeral skies and mares tails, make tall ships fly low sails". We sat for a while and looked at chapmans and talked about boating. It was a very nice memorable time. The reason my wife Jenny has her BMW is because of Ed. He told her it was a great car...BUY IT! He also taught her to drive it because it's a stick shift 5 speed. Now, she 'red lines' it once a day!
Ed, Georgine, Chris, Mike, we are so greatful to have had Ed, and to have you, in our lives. We love you very much.

My Friend - Ed Wenzler:

I have been graciously afforded the opportunity to have Ed and his family part of my life for the past 10 years. We met at a time in my life that was very turbulent and uncertain. You know the statement has most likely been shared by most where you feel like "I don't have time to fit another new person in". Fortunately, I understand now, there was a plan that brought me to Ed and allowed me the opportunity to be positively influenced.

I was at an interview with Ed and Chris and I want to share a comment from Chris W.

After the interview, I mentioned to Chris that Ed was REALLY "ON". His passion, knowledge, and LOVE for life and Architecture were like a huge possitive boost. You just could not get over the possitive energy in the room. Chris looked at me and replied (I must paraphrase)Jesus answered our groups prayer and was right there with Dad...speaking through his instrument and providing the strength to be at his best. Faith is always a tricky thing to those who do not have it and an amazing gift to those who do. Ed and his entire family get it, share it, and live it.

I will charish the gift of spirit Ed and his family has and continue to share with me and my family as with it I am a better father and husband. And you know - that spirit just makes me feel good inside.

I will miss "I'm feeling a road trip!", the foot stomp and characteristic laugh, the "giddy up", and the "what up!?!?"; but I know that the life changing impact he shared with me was a true gift from God.

I LOVE you Ed and THANK YOU for all the hugs and kisses!

To begin with I want to extend my strongest sympathies to Ed's family. I can give you no greater encouragement than was given at Ed's memorial service. As a business aquaintance I was moved by the impact Ed's life had on so many people. What great pride you must must have mixed with your sorrow!

Many who visit this site will probably be compelled to comment on how Ed impacted them while he was "here". Although I can testify to his graciousness and the joy he exuded while on earth; his lasting legacy to me may have come through his death.

As a fellow believer and brother in Christ, I am always aware of my principle responsibility to love others and to share the good news of Jesus' victory over death so that we all may live. As I sat through the memorial and watched person after person testify how they were impacted by Ed's outpouring of love onto them I was compelled to seek God's forgiveness for the opportunities I have wasted. Some may perceieve this comment as "a feeling of guilt" but I believe it is better translated as a moment of humility. We are loved so much by God and all He asks is that we accept that love and pass it along. Ed clearly understood this!

I mentioned Ed's legacy to me. Last night Ed was in my home as I met with a group of people from my church in a bible study. I shared with them what a life lived for Christ can look like. Within the next month Ed will go with me into the Waukesha County and Washington County jails. His story will be shared with many people that oftentimes see no hope in life but want desperately to have hope. Much to their shock, they will receive a hug from Ed, with my arms. This is one of the things that Ed's life taught me.

I pray God's blessing on each of you.

There is a big hole in my heart today. It was an honor to know Ed Wenzler. When his boys were little (Mike couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 years old), they were running around where we held services at Riverside on Sunday morning and rammed right into my husband Dick and myself. About 2 minutes later, here comes Ed with a boy in each hand, telling them to apologize to us for being so rude. What a wonderful memory of such a good father!
An even better memory I have is when after an absence of over a year, Dick & I came back to Eastbrook on a Thursday night because I wanted to get back into choir immediately. Ed arrived at the same time as we and asked what we were doing there. Dick said we were coming back to Eastbrook, Ed smiled and said "You guys just made my day!" How could you EVER forget someone that loving?
Sorry we (Dick, Joan & I) didn't get to hug all of you, but the place was so crowded, and the lines so long, we never got the chance.
In His precious love,
Shirley Simuncak

Ed was one of the many reasons I fell in love with Chris. If a man was that clearly devoted to his own wife, and loved his own children with such abandon, I knew his son must have learned how to do the same - living and growing up with such a fine teacher, so comfortable in his own skin and strong in his faith.

Ed welcomed me into the Wenzler family from the moment I first met him (at the UWM dorms December of 2000 - helping Chris move out for Christmas break). He took care of me when I lived far away from my own parents - made sure I had air in my tires and gas in my tank. He tried endlessly to teach me how to drive a stick shift (to no avail). I didn't start to feel like his daughter when Chris and I got married six years later - I felt it immediately. I love Ed and the family he and Georgine created - the absence of his presence will always be there, but so will the memory of all the love he showed us. The effects of his life reach far into the future, and I am so grateful for that.

Thank you Ed for showing all of us how to love each other and live each day with a smile, a laugh - and a latte. I will miss you always!

My Dad

My father. Edward William Wenzler.

We can't believe it. He was with us one moment, and the next he was gone.

We all loved him very much. We will never be the same without him. We will
however be able to maintain in the knowledge that he lived a wonderful
life, and thru his faith in the Lord Jesus he is in Heaven. We will all see
him again someday.

John 14:1-4 (New International Version)
1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going."

He was the man that I will always aspire to be. I love you Dad! Thank you for who you were and what you did for us!

Your loving son,
Christopher Edward Wenzler

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
